August Check-In

Halfway through summer already, and I'll be offline for a few more days - moving to permanent accommodations*, internet won't be set for a couple of days. I'll be spending these couple of days actually unpacking my boxes and see what survived, checking out the neighbourhood, etc... you know... getting settled properly.
*Insane thing, like 90+ people applied for that place, and the contract was given to one application at random. And we got through with a second shuffle, because the first one declined. I don't think I'll be this lucky ever again....TLDR:Aside from the translation, IF has been a bit on the back-burner, especially the past two weeks. It will continue for a bit more until settled.
What I've been up to in July?
Not... that much IF, actually. Except for one project that I can't talk about.
Still editing my personal website
I think I'm slowly finding my footing with this space (I've reorganised the pages again lol... the URLs looked like a mess, but I'm almost done). I've been writing a few blogs, kind of a throwback to the early 2010s Liveblog scene honestly. It's nice being able to put some thoughts down, even if nothing is really super serious.
(but also things I wouldn't want to share on Tumblr...)I might have dipped into the pixel club void so much, I came back with some of my own: Timbropixelia (postal stamps - with Jinx!) and PixelBuster (movies/series). I've also been following tutorials on making pixel art from scratch (rather than based on something), but it's... bad.
Finally, tracking things has been surprisingly helpful recently. I find myself jumping at opportunities to try new things (so I can add it to the list later :P ), and be more involved when doing things. It's also been easier to place events looking at the list.
Translation Projects
No more buffer for me this month, this was really a week-by-week work on those translations. I've even missed the actually Sundays... most Sundays because I didn't time myself well (or overestimated MelS free time to check my mess). So now I've added machina caerulea (incl. French), Bon Dieu ! Et une lessive aussi ? (incl. English), and Maenad Rite.
Cassandra was supposed to be out last Sunday, but something came up for MelS and he couldn't check it until today. it will be out ASAP.I'm... still struggling. Though he can understand what I've done (most of the time), and some sentences are technically correct, MelS still ends up finding something wrong in most of them. It's frustrating, but learning a language isn't a walk in the park either.
And I'm not doing myself any favour by translating things with flowery language to begin with... But at the same time, I don't really have works with basic sentences...On the plus side, learning new words AND remembering them in the next translations (turns out I use whispering, and liquid, and body parts quite often).
AND I'M OFFICIALLY 2/3rd THROUGH THIS PROJECT!!!
And... running out of tiny stuff to translate...
The Cloak of Darkness
It's been a while since the last port I've made, and I've used a couple of new engines since. There was the Decker Month happening, so I took a couple of days and made a port for Decker!
NGL, I think this is so far my favourite version of The Clock of Darkness.
Exquisite Cadaver
I have... nothing to report this month. I haven't been able to sit down and work on it in meaningful way. Like I think I managed to fix a bug to two, but not more... I'm hoping to get writing during August instead - but after I'm properly settled.
Neo-Interactives and other Events
May is @neointeractives currently has the Single Choice Jam ongoing, for two more weeks, and the Bring Out Your Ghost is coming just next!
AGAIN I forgot to post about the 2025 Showcase. Someone need to send me an ask in like a week to remind me.
The Summer of Translations is still mainly me, and that's ok! Though there's been more people joining lately... so maybe we'll see more stuff~
Only a couple of Friday Fun-Day 5-star-Day this month (been a busy bee IRL). I'll try to get at least one posted for August.
And finally the @ifcomp is accepting game intents until midnight EST TODAY! If you miss it, you'll have to wait until next year~ (or participate in the SpringThing...)
Other Stuff
I interviewed SV Linwood for @the-rosebush-mag! Yall should go read it!
I haven't been able to play/review in the past two weeks, but there are still a bunch of reviews over at @manonamora-if-reviews! For the Neo-Twiny Jam and the Review-A-Thon.
Aaaaand... that's it for this month.
The PLANtm for August
Summer is almost over, but there is still time to make things:
- Summer of Translation: we finish this project with 5 more titles to translate. Or maybe 4 and I write a whole tiny one in Dutch first.
- Website:finish making the website mobile compatible (and JavaScript free where possible)
- Reviews: over on @manonamora-if-reviews, hopefully I can put out a couple.
- Exquisite Cadaver: Write :P
Druk druk druk...
