Dénantir is a tiny French parser prototype, created for the Partim500, using a new-for-me engine: Donjon.FI. Based on the titular theme, your goal is to find in a cemetery a specific object previously taken from you.
Unlike my previous participations, I wasn't really inspired by that year's theme. The word isn't really commonly used, and its definition was pretty obtuse too. The game's link to the theme is very bare-thread here.
As far as engine goes, Donjon.FI is pretty similar to Inform7, in that is uses natural language for its coding - but in French, which adds a bit more complexity (due to French grammar rules). Since I was still not completely comfortable with natural language, this was a bit of a struggle for me. And from the comments I got, so did the players (even with the walkthrough). I'm glad I tried it out, but I think I'll first make a Cloak port before an actual new game.
Still, one thing I particularly enjoyed doing with this prototype was the "throwing of the pebbles" section, where each throw unlocked a new bit of memory. I thought it was a neat way of dripping context, rather than info dump (and I'll probably use it again).
