An experimental short piece about devotion.
Are you devoted enough to play it through and through?
An experimental short piece about devotion.
Le Jeu de la Dévotion is an experimental tiny IF, created for the Partim500, under the theme of 'devotion' and written with 500 words (or so). Completed over the course of two afternoons, this was more an exercise for me, in limiting my writing, testing interface customisation, and exploring new functions of the engine - all under a tight deadline.
Based on an idea from the French IF Discord, this is more of a meta-take on the theme: how devoted are players? do they play until the end, or give up before? I sort of engage in the conversation with hidden bits of texts on the page.
Funnily enough, a similar take was submitted to the jam, elux, which I think is more effective (looping indefinitely).
Until 2025, the game was only available in French. That summer, it was translated into English and Dutch, in hopes to reach and test more players and their devotion.
This is probably one of the most addicting and pointless tapping games I've ever played.
