About...
Meeting the Parents was my first-ever attempt at creating an Interactive Fiction game, after years of not writing creatively. Soon after finding the medium, I was challenged to make an IF game, even just a prototype. Meeting the Parent was essentially my fall into the IF-rabbit hole, giving me incredible experiences and helping grow as a creator.
Completed in about a month, and submitted to the Twine Survival Jam, the premise was inspired by comedic movies like Meet the Parents (Jay Roach, 2000) and Meet the Fockers (Jay Roach, 2004). While the Sparks family is more down-to-earth than the in-laws in those movies, I still strived to make it comedic with sarcastic humour, while still keeping it wholesome.
Since the first release, the game changed Twine format (from the default Harlowe to SugarCube), updated its interface, saw its story expanded, and was translated to French. One of the updates also included accessibility settings (e.g. keybinding).
Reviews
This was very well written. The part about giving a firm handshake made me laugh, because it reminded me of all the advice I got growing up about men being judged by the firmness of their grip.

Not only did I love the writing style, I also adorned all the little moments of humor and sweetness.
