Bio

Creating as a hobby has been part of my life for as long as I can remember - from short stories to full (thankfully unpublished) novels, doodles to paintings, dabbles in graphic design, experiment with recipes, to anything in between. Never afraid of sharing the fruit of my creative endeavours online neither, no matter the quality (no shame in this house). Though most of these spaces have long been scrapped.

Even if some are now pretty rusty, I taught myself all these skills. Most recently: HTML/CSS, some JavaScript/jQuery, and a handful of IF engines (levels: basics to semi-advanced). Lots of trials and errors trailing behind me, and more to come in the future!

When I'm not trying new things (or flexing my skills), I enjoy a good book while wrapped in a soft cover, and with a warm drink. Or having very chaotic RPGs adventures.

Dev Alter-Ego

manonamora is my online persona (tad more private than IRL-me), and the username I've been using since forever. It's under this name that I've been publishing Interactive Fiction and other experimental things.

My narrative work is primarily choice-based, though I've been enjoying the more puzzle-y aspects of text-adventures (particularly parsers). I've also been toying with more visual aspects, getting ever so closer to visual novel territory (soon?). Experimenting with gameplay and bending the codes of the genres, specifically, is what starts most of my projects.

Regarding stories, I am mot interested in interactions (between characters, or players and their surroundings). I enjoy especially human stories, in which people and their relationships - with others or things - take the center stage.

Twine is usually my engine of choice, with its SugarCube format, though I've branched out since I started back in 2021 (i.e. Adventuron/Inform, Ink, bitsy/binksi). A personal challenge of mine is to try out as many IF engines as possible, or at least the most popular ones.
